If you are at medium risk for Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) based on your risk factors, measuring the calcium build up in your coronary arteries may give your doctor more information to decide on your risk of CAD and give you the opportunity to seek treatment and  make appropriate life-style changes.

 

This procedure requires no injections, treadmills or any other preparation such as fasting. The procedure takes about 1 hour.

 

If you have one of these risk factors, you may benefit from the procedure:

  • Male 45 years or older
  • Female 55 years or older
  • Post Menopausal
  • Abnormally high cholesterol level
  • Smoking
  • Family history of heart disease
  • High blood pressure
